Well, it's taking time, but there is progress being made in my attempts to find out what happened to the phantom Stargate DVDs allegedly delivered on 26 February.

I don't know if the Halifax have taken any action, after I complained to them; I suspect not. I have a small amount to pay off on that card and then they can have it back; I'd rather like a bit of customer support from people when I put a lot of business their way, thank you very much.

Anyway. While I would recommend against ever e-mailing Royal Mail for advice - I get a single response pretty much saying "It's not up to us, Guvnor" - a trip to the local sorting office is far more productive, even if it has to be done on a Saturday morning, or by taking time off work. I now have a photocopy of the delivery note, complete with signature. Apparently, Mr Bryan Lea can also be spelt A Christopoulous (or similar). Unfortunately, I do not know where this paragon of Greek virtue lives, so I can't nip round and see if he, she, or it has my DVDs.

Never mind. Provided I remember to take the paper into the office on Monday, together with something to prove my signature, probably a photocopy of the relevant page of my passport, I shall be faxing the details to Play.com who, whilst washing their hands of all the leg work, have at least offered to provide a replacement provided I can show that the item was delivered to the wrong place. Well, now I can show that the signature ain't mine - and at least it isn't even an attempt to forge it - and I expect that I can prove that there isn't an A Christopoulous at this address either. If they insist, the signatures on the tenancy agreement should do that.

God, but I'm having to put some effort into this "convenient on-line purchasing" thang...
