Impatient. Irrational. Wound-up

caddymanIt seems that it is not only the youth of todayTM who find it hard, if not impossible to wait for communications and/or receipt of goods or services. Whether this is a malaise brought on my the media, the internet, a mixture of both, or some other societal malfunction, it certainly exists.
And I have it: a complete impatience for slow responses from businesses or suppliers when email is involved. With good old snail mail, it is quite possible even now, to remain exceptionally relaxed about expanding delivery periods, and lengthening gaps in written communication. Send an email, however, and the annoyance resulting from the lack of response starts after about an hour - even if you intellectually know that you are being irrational.
Imagine then, sending an email to an e-bay seller requesting the total price including postage, and having no response after 36 hours.
Frustration doesn't cover it, my friend; not at all. And then you read through previous feedback and start seeing nuances in responses that suggest that although the experience for purchaser groinface978 has been generally positive, and fed back as such, they were less than effusive in saying so. Clearly a hidden context then, that only true paranoia can reveal.
So why are these people refusing to communicate after 36 hours when all I want to do is give them money and receive my goods? What hidden agenda do they have? Should I bid for a similar item with another e-bay seller for twice the amount in half the condition, because that auction is closing in 30 seconds?
Argh!
I hate not knowing what's going on! I hate that it is entirely and irrational function of the service I am using, and I hate that I am powerless in the face of it!
I wish I'd remembered to take my meddies this morning...
