It's all a fog.

I think that next week I ought to go to see the optician; I haven’t been since November of 1999, and I think it’s about time I went again. I believe that every two years rather than every five and a half is recommended.

I have always been very lucky with my eyesight and my hearing. At 46 I have never worn glasses, and my hearing is quite acute, although if I’m not careful this will change for the worse if I keep cranking my MP3 player up so I can hear it on the Tube.

Last time I had my eyes tested I was told that I was marginally long sighted, and that though they could prescribe glasses, the lenses would effectively be little more than plain glass. But recently I have found it more frequently the case that I have to struggle to focus at times. This may be as much to do with the fact that I keep depriving myself of sleep by faffing around, as it is to do with needing glasses, which is why I shall leave it until after the bank holiday weekend, when I have caught up on my sleep a little.

That said it wouldn’t hurt to have the buggers checked. I am rather attached to my eyesight.

It is a good idea to go and get your eyes checked out, as this is the point in life where they like to make sure that you don't have glaucoma or anything of that nature. Indeed you can buy reading glasses more cheaply than through an optician, but long and short sight are not the only things which can go wrong...
