I nearly always have difficulty getting to sleep on Sundays, after a weekend of slothful relaxation and lazing around.

This Sunday I went to bed a little earlier than usual, and took a couple of Nytol herbal sleeping pills just to help me doze off. At the time I thought that they had done the trick, now I realise that I was fooling myself.

I think they have just now kicked in.....zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Sat, not Sun

Saturday is my bad night.

I must go to bed early on those nights and sleep uninterrupted, as I must get up early for church next day (on the worship team for THREE services, so I arrive at 6:45 and don't get out 'til noon). So of course my mind tells my body "Sleeeeeeeep, sleeeeeep," and my body replies "Bollocks." So this Sunday I awoke at about 1 a.m. and do you think I could get back to sleep? Heck no! Got up, read a book, went back to bed, lay there, finally slept for about 30 mins before I had to get up.

Eating half a dozen very sugary iced lollies (another cultural shock was having to call the buggers "popsicles" in order to be understood here) on Saturday afternoon/evening might have had something to do with my insomnia, damn it.

Couldn't you cut a deal with the Pastor to do Sunday evening instead of the first one in the morning?

Like the icon, by the way.

I could, I suppose, but it would mess him about too much. Also I think he regards my playing (reasonably versatile and sensitive) as suited more to the morning services than the less formal evening service. The guitarist on that team, my mate Robbie, is a hard rock guitarist whose subtle-as-a-brick, not remotely versatile, style did NOT suit the morning team when he was with them for 6 months in early 2004. In fact the drummer campaigned to have the poor lad ejected from the team.

Thanks, the icon took some doing, as I'm not computer literate. I tried it a few times, with no luck, and finally got it posted a few mins ago. However, a little journal entry I wrote about it did NOT post! And I had deleted the Word document in which I'd composed it.

It's just as well it was an unimportant entry. So the last thing you see on there is my morose rant about sports, which I already regard as outdated.

By the way, can one only italicise and embolden words here if one has a paid LJ account? I am forced to be articulate if I want to emphasise a word or phrase, and I'm bloody-well out of practice here among people for whom "Uhh, dude" is verbose.

If you want to email me a likely pic at my home address, I'll turn it into an icon for you on paint shop.

As to the italics, bold and stuff - including links to elsewhere and so forth, all the clever stuff is on the FAQ page - see your info page for details. For italics, use to start, and to finish, bold use a [b] etc. In each case, substitute the square brackets I used for illustration with the triangular brackets, thus: < and >
