I rather enjoyed the the tenth Doctor's first outing, I must say. Not a classic story, but about right for the post Turkey Christmas evening slot. Unlike [livejournal.com profile] rumfuddle, I wasn't annoyed by David Tennant, and didn't see anything wrong with his performance.

I'm not sure about Russel T Davies' agenda, though spotting the pot-shots is always fun. The reference to the President of the US not being the PM's boss was a laugh, and the references to Thatcher - the sinking of the Belgrano and the fall of her Government with "I can bring your government down with just six words..." (see title to this post) were interesting.

Nice to see Sarah-Jane Smith and K9 in the 'coming soon' bit during the closing titles, and the cybermen.

Have they remixed the title music again? I'm not sure.

Thanks, by the way to those who read and enjoyed the Christmas ghost story. It's surprisingly hard to get to the point in five hundred words or less. You won't believe the amount of editing involved to get it down to that, but I think it was the better for it.

Anyway, must go - proper update at some point, but it's 1.10am and this is a borrowed computer.

Ciao4now. More words when I get home.

Somewhat amusingly, I was struggling to get my story over 400 words ... but then I've never been any good at writing anything long.

Was annoyed with the last series of Dr Who by the end of it but I really enjoyed last nights straight-forward nicely set-up and wrapped-up (mainly) in an hour episode. Loved Tennant, I think he's an improvement (not that C Eccleston's a bad actor or anything, I 'm just not sure how suited he was to the kind of Who he had to play).
The new costume is brilliant too.

It was fun, an that's the point isn't it (but why Lord did the hand-holding have to return?)

I thought Tennant was pretty good, he sold me on being the Doc and the exit from the TARDIS was done brilliantly! The way the cyberman moved was quite spot on!

Ah I just wrote a little about this myself.
Definately has me now waiting for Spring.

Hmm. Much preferred Ecclestone, but Tennant isn't bad; he's more in the tradition of lighter doctors, jokey rather than manic, and he's a bit pretty too, which is tiresome. Not a plus but not a minus either, I'll keep watching for now.

I wondered about whether it was a reference to the Belgrano too, and am glad that I wasn't the only one who thought so. However, I'm afraid, for me, it was just too silly overall. It was mildly entertaining at best.

Still ragging on Thatch? Don't these people know she left office 15 years ago? I hope the new series is full of sniggering references to the Malay crisis, appeasement and the mishandling of the Boer War. Sheesh.
