Clearly organised by London Transport, winter seems to be here at last. For just about the first time this year, London is having a sustained flurry of snow.

I was going to write snow storm but I didn't want to send those of you in North America into paroxysms of laughter (it's snowing, but it's softy southern English snow, which means that it looks like falling talcum powder and melts when you say "boo" to it).

Nonetheless, it's nice to see. Pity it isn't a little heavier and sticking, if only for a few hours.

I remember that when I lived in London, London Transport squeaked to a standstill every time more than a quarter inch of snow fell, including the bloody Underground!

We had about four inches of snow this weekend, and I wrote a blog at home about it and the resulting automotive inconvenience (all my blogs are posted at work - no e-mail or internet capability at home). I saved it on a floppy disc, (no CD burner), and brought it into work to post, but the new PC they gave me has no floppy disc drive! Arghhhh!

Suffice it to say that the tourists who came up the mountain to play in the snow, and parked their vehicles on the highway so as to cause our journey home to occupy two hours instead of 30 mins, are on my Must Kill list.
