Today has been a wash out, largely on account of my favourite person at work (If you can’t guess who that is, then you haven’t been paying attention). I am going to wander off soon, maybe take a peek in an HMV or Virgin Megastore, or some other digital media entertainment emporium. Or maybe I shall go home and just watch the current episodes of Stargate SG-1 and Battlestar Galactica before (or after) getting on with a bit more character writing.

Either way, I’m of shortly in the hope that tomorrow is less of a hassle and only a fraction as frustrating.

(Stopping only to scoff an unexpected doughnut).

I am of the view that the doughnut suspected that it was going to be scoffed all along. It just didn't expect it to be me.

Agreed. If it didn't want to be enthusiastically snaffled, either by yourself or someone else, it shouldn't be a doughnut. To be left alone by all but the most reckless nosh-merchant, it ought to have been born as liver and onions.

I used to *love* liver and onions, but in my third year at Wolves Poly, I lived in digs in Wolverhampton with a mithering old bat called Elsie. I couldn't afford to live anywhere else, as my take home pay was a princely £40 a week (1979-80); my rent was £20 and bus fare to Walsall and back for my work placement £5...

Elsie discovered that I liked liver and onions and fed it to me every day thereafter.

Since then I have never eaten another mouthful of the bloody stuff.
