Well, I had a little play with my fancy new digital camera this afternoon after I'd finished working. I have decided therefore to inflict a number of pictures of the inside of the Athenaeum Club on you just so that you may revel in the magnificence of it all.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
We start with a view of the inside of The Tower. Revel in the geekiness of it all.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Same room, but the CD collection (or part of it). And yet behold, further evidence of incurable geekiness.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
We move now, to the view from mine bedroom window as seen from tippy toe.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
This, is the lounge of the Athenaeum Club. In practice, it was the only relatively tidy bit, so there we have it.

More frighteningly, and not hidden behind the cut, I present to you that miracle of evolution that is [livejournal.com profile] colonel_maxim on the 41st anniversary of his hatching. He is pointing meaningfully at his computer as if there is some great revelation thereon. There isn't, and he just looks silly.

Now I know roughly what I am doing, I shall try to post up more inconsequential bandwidth-eating stuff. Or not, as the mood takes me.

Night, y'all.

You have green in your view. Trees!

But by far the most fun, doesn't The Colonel look like a very huggable Colin Firth? And is that a Darcy shirt behind him? We must be told! :)

Huggable? Oh Lord.

That is quite likely a Darcy shirt, yes. The Colonel's computer room is also an adjunct to the TARDIS wardrobe.

You popping along to the College Arms tomorrow?

Aha. And there's me scoping out the piccies on the walls for the portrait that was taking all the hits on his behalf.

Tiny point, but if you're only using the photos for the web, you could cut down the jpeg quality significantly and thus speed download times. At the moment those photos are at 99% quality - dropping them to 70% cuts their size by 75%.

I'll bear that in mind with the next lot, ta.

It didn't occur to me to do anything else after I'd reduced the display sizes by about 60%. I didn't give any thought to changing the save quality...

Oh well, live and learn.

"The Tower" - reminds me of an art installation by DOuglas Coupland (seen at Canada House in Feb 2005). I'm not really sure if that's a compliment, but I enjoyed it! (Coupland likes to employ the theme of familiar objects in unexpected settings. Everyone is familiar with the tardis of course... Is that Madonna next to the soldier in "Zulu"?) :-)

And who are the young ladies in the photos on the wall in photos 3 and 4? Not enough CDs, and definitely not enough Tardises.

Er... I assume you mean photos 1&2?

Black and white pics are Louise Brooks (as is my pen and ink piccy in the lounge. The colour one with the head chopped off (in fine snapshot pedigree) is Gillian Anderson of X-Files fame.

There is no such thing as too few TARDISes, I agree. The pictures show about 3/4 of my CD collection. There's about 800 these days. I have additional music in download and on tape.

Bugger! No, I meant 1 & 4! I've never seen the appeal of G Anderson, nor of X Files... Don't know much about Louise Brooks. Soon, you'll probably have your walls festooned with pics of your beloved, looking all winsome and snuggly!

The view from your room is very British. I can't imagine any room here overlooking such a scene.

The picture of LB in 4 is a pen and ink sketch I did some years back; one of only about 3 I've ever liked enough to frame. She was a silent movie actress in the 20s who fell out with the studios.

The Louise Brooks Society has an LJ and you can find it on my friends' list.

If you're interested, of course.
