It is very hard to manage the sleep of the just or even to sleep like the dead when it's very hot and the sun pokes its nose in through your window at about 3.30am.

So I compromised and managed the sleep of the just dead, which is half-way house in which you keep waking up and looking at the clock in horror before dozing off again. I managed to keep this up until about 15 minutes ago when my bladder threatened to launch a land war in Asia if I didn't get up and do something about it.

Still, not tired anymore. Last night the whites of my eyes were a fetching shade of pink that wouldn't have disgraced an albino. Today they are back to normal, although I think my ears may be bloodshot (the one on the right; I think it got a bit folded while I slept on it. Ow. Sore).

At some point I have to go to the launderette or the reason for taking today off work is only half fulfilled, and I will have no clean clothes for ther foreseeable future. The trouble is that launderettes are really winter animals and shouldn't be visited in summer. They are gruesome places when it's hot.

Oh well, c'est la vie, as they say in Gaul.

My laundrette used to offer an all in one service, where I could drop it off in the morning and pick it up in the evening. It was more expensive, but it made the whole process infinitely less painful!

Oh, I could have had a service wash, but I have a reputation as a curmudgeonly old tightwad to maintain.

Anyway, I#d have nothing to moan about. ;-)

Oddly enough I slept like the very dead last night. The mental image of your bladder rampaging across Asia is erm..well..different.
Euuu laundrettes, do they do service washes?

And if he had a service wash, they'd fold his ear properly for him.

They probably couldn't do anything about the bladder except offer the services of the Industrial Spin Drier for the whole afternoon...

Ah yes, a session in a steam room whilst fully dressed is just what you need! You'll need some ironing too after that.

I know how you feel. I've just accepted that until the summer is over I'll only be sleeping when I'm drunk. The heat and brightness make it impossible otherwise.
