Yes, I love your Carry On icons. I always found Kenneth Williams to be very enjoyable to watch, primarily because he always switched so convincingly between his snootily aloof persona and his naughty "stop messin' about" one. I passed him in the street in South Kensington one evening, in the early '80s. He wore a tightly buttoned Burberry trenchcoat and glared down his nose at me, possibly to deter me from saying, "Mr Williams, I think you're great." He had the desired effect. I walked on, having kept my nosh-hole shut.
