The morning after
Friday, July 21st, 2006 08:16 amI don't ache, I creak.
Yesterday's epic journey home by bus to an Athenaeum Club where the windows had been closed in anticipation of forecast thunder storms that never came left me drained. By the time I got back at 9pm, all pores were working at peak efficiency. To the extent that I think I must have rusted up slightly. That would account for the continued creaking from all my joints.
Clearly my perceptions have been warped by the journey, too. Whilst waiting at North Finchley for the bus (I could have walked from there, but I was too shattered by that point), I saw the world's thinnest woman sporting the world's biggest head. It was as if someone had taken the alien from the end of Close Encounters, sprayed it sallow flesh colour and dressed it in a very tight pencil dress. Her hair, pulled back into a severe pony tail did nothing to help either, merely emphasising the size of her head in proportion to her body.
I am torn between the hope that I hallucinated her existence and the worry that I didn't.
I have a meeting first thing. I am hoping the creaks are inaudible. I'm not sure.

The grays are coming.
I'm with you about the weather - was rather narked at the lack of anything but a rising humidity yesterday - especially as I chose that day to pick the one screen in the cinema where the air-con wasn't functioning.

I don't have it on DVD and am frankly sooooooo confused about how versions there have been I don't know which to go for - theatrical release, Special Edition, Collectors Edition, 1 disc version 2 disc version ????? so confusing.
If you see the woman again could you ask her ?
