I am sitting here just after midnight trying to cool down and rehydrate with a coffee. I expect that I shall rue my choice of beverage in a couple of hours, but right now...
I advice any and all of my UK based readership to avoid the West Coast Line as like unto the plague. You may recall that I've whined about it before, but there's mileage in the subject yet, believe me.
I spent 2 hours 40 minutes on the train yesterday getting to Birmingham. Tonight I spent 3 hours and 5 minutes getting back. These times do not include the 40 minutes hanging around on the station because the train was delayed. Nor do they include the Tube journey back to Clapham from Euston. Suffice it to say that I am shattered. It is a ludicrous amount of time to spend travelling 130 miles. It's no wonder people don't use public transport. It's not as if it's cheap either.
Grumble.
Well, the NWO statting is done, we only have a couple more sheets to finish writing and then the player packs can go out. That's
pax_draconis' department. He is very pleased with the spreadsheet he put together for the statting process, by the way.
He are v. proud of self.
Well, that done, we scarfed back a chinese takeaway and then downed a bottle of red wine. Then we recorked a bottle and advanced upon
nyarbaggytep and Rob sans LJ who were entertaining
ashenkat,
mrcook and er... someone else. Baggy had quaffed deeply of the grape and was on the edge of bluterdom, so we joined her. Oh dear.
Rob of course wimped out. And to ensure that it reaches the widest possible audience, I should state here that he and his glass of orange squash (aye, 'tis true) paused the conversation for a moment to log on and water a virtual plant.
There are no words, and far too little derision in the world, to describe this merciless display of geekdom. And we know, brothers and sisters of geekdom, for who amongst us has not fed at that trough?
But really.
Anyway, at around 3am or thereabouts, we being soused and lazy, took a four minute cab ride back and drank more wine. Yea verily it is true. We did. We were joined shortly thereafter by
mrcook again, and only briefly, for it was his earnest intention to get up at the crack of sparrowfart and do something healthy (I discard him), and at 3.30am by
philoko and
grendelchild who aided us in the destruction of more red and port wine.
That was largely it. Baggy of course ran off to a thing in the park with her sister today, so portraiture will have to wait.
I have to iron a shirt now, and stand under a shower before bed.
I hate trains.
