The much awaited Torchwood started well, if not overly spectacularly - that's not necessarily a criticism; it takes a while to get to know the characters. It has the right feel and look, though I don't know if the overseas market will be able to understand the very Welsh accents.

I wasn't disappointed and look forward to the rest of the series.

I have just watched episode 4 of Battlestar Galactica season 3. As I hoped it ended a good evening's TV on a high, rather than having to pull it back from the doldrums. This series just gets better and better, though I know at least one of my friends' list disagrees with me on just about every detail I have just typed (just have to allow that we all like different things!).

I have to admit, I thought for a moment that the writers had blown it. We got a sight of what appeared to be Galactica in cloud - this of course turned out to be nebula. But when they jumped into the atmosphere of New Caprica I thought they must have thrown the series bible out of the window; battlestars are not supposed to be capable of atmospheric flight. But no: that's the point. Jump in below the Cylon Basestar cover, drop like a stone from 90,000 feet, launch vipers and FTL back into deep space nearly destroying itself in the process.

Fantastic stuff.

And the death of Ellen Tigh brought a lump to my throat as did the final flight of the Pegasus.

This series just gets better and better.

I watched Torchwood last night and think Gwen is a lovely lass. Captain Jack wasn't as OTT as I remember him from Dr Who which was a bonus. As I lost interest in Dr Who due to finding David Tennant a little too chirpy and Rose Tyler a little overly connected to the stories, I was pleasantly surprised by Torchwood which seems more suited to those of us who went off Dr Who a bit for the above reasons.

Mesa confused. As far as I know Ep 4 hasn't aired here yet - or am I being daft and watching the Friday Sci-Fi channel repeat, I wonder? Hrm. This will bear looking into.

Just for the record the accents are not very welsh they are very Cardiff, altogether a horse of a different colour. Welsh is what you hear in North Wales or west Wales, Cardiff (pronounced Care diff) is wot the talks round there where they filmed it like see - you knows it is wot we sez in neuw pot like see

unnastan?

Torchwood is dead good Dr Who is for scaring kids.
