Phew, it’s warmer out there than it looks this morning and here I am having decided to wear my leather jacket into work. Boy, was that a mistake, or what?

I think I’ve lost a smidgen of weight over the past three weeks or so; all I need to do is continue to cut out the lunchtime sandwiches and wear this jacket as it gets warmer and I don’t think I’ll need to do much else to shed a few additional pounds. Ah, Bryan, thy name is vanity. I want to shed the weight because I would like to lose a couple of inches off my girth so that I can button the jacket up and breathe at the same time. Currently I can do one or the other (strictly to be fair, I should have said ‘breathe AND move’ whilst the jacket is buttoned). Any health benefits are entirely secondary to my attempts to look like a U-Boat Captain good in my new coat1.

As the mean temperature rises in the coming months, I shall have fewer and fewer opportunities to wear the jacket, so I am hoping that by the time it comes back out of mothballs around the end of September, or the beginning of October, I shall have shrunk enough to do it justice.

Worryingly a friend of mine, a geek of note2 (who also has one of the jackets) has found a website that sells militaria, including as it turns out, U-Boat captains’ hats. Happily I have lost the link. All I wanted was a jacket that looks good.

Is it me, or is the Easter break taking forever to get here? I just need some time off to chill.

1Anyone who points out that in addition to U-Boat captains, it is also the same cut as the jacket Christopher Eccleston wore for his season as the Doctor will get my sonic screwdriver something sharp pushed up a nostril.

2For once I do not mean [livejournal.com profile] mingmerciless. No this time it is [livejournal.com profile] fencingsculptor, but I can see how one might become confused

Is the stern glare because you have been out geeked?

Bah. Bet if you'd had access to an affordable tailor, you'd have been down there to get fitted up for Time Lord robes or similar!

I don't think you can apply Latin plurals to an acronym, can you?

In any event, the Latin plural would likely be Tardes. Sounds a bit rude. Or insulting. Or both.

Who found the jacket first ?
Who told you about it ?
Who (to be aboslutely accurate on a point of fact) owned/posessed this jacekt first ?

*looks around mischievously*

...Oh yeah and surely I qualify as an Uber-Geek now?!

*wry grin*

Ah, but I ordered and paid for mine first. You merely got jealous and drove to the place and bought one off the peg, sallow youth that you are.

Boys, boys!

What's this? "I was a geek before you were"?

I'm confiscating both your jackets until after school.

And here I was quietly thinking that boroshan was the biggest geek on the planet - how wrong can I be?

As to the excuse that a big boy did it and ran away -heard that one a few times along with it was him over there!
