Evacuate!

In one of those “say what?” moments, I read the notice on the wall about fire alarms. Apparently, if we hear an intermittent tone, we are to wait. Should we hear a continuous tone, we should evacuate. That in itself is not a problem; in fact it’s pretty clear.

I was just worried that this was written up on a notice posted in the khazi. What are you supposed to do if there’s no tone?

Sit and wait patiently ...
No evacuation unless you hear the proper tone.

It's quite clearly pavlovian conditioning.
God help you if you hear the same tone elsewhere !!

Worrying, isn't it?

Not quite as absurd as a tannoy message that used to be broadcast at the now demolished Marsham St premises a decade or so back, "If you cannot hear this message, please contact office services".

Always made my day hearing that.

Dunno, but I'm guessing it'll be quite violent
