Is the movie Mirrormask best enjoyed with a cup of coffee or an armful of your Class A of choice?

We watched it on DVD on Sunday, courtesy [livejournal.com profile] chomper99 and [livejournal.com profile] caffeine_fairy. I had the coffee, Furtle read a book (though the chicken made her laugh) and [livejournal.com profile] colonel_maxim ate a fry-up which is as close to the drugs as we got.

I'm glad I watched it; I doubt I shall be watching it again, though.

I would say (even though I have the DVD) that it's a film best watched on as large a screen as possible, and with being in the same state of mind you're in when you're dreaming. Whether its coffee, grease or LSD that does that for you, I live as an exercise for the reader.

I loved it, and think that it's one of the best dream narratives I've seen - the logic made sense in the same way that dream-logic does, and as Em says, it's _very_ pretty. But then I would expect no less of Dave McKean.
