Bonce properly shaved, bed made and laundry put away (apart from three recalcitrant socks which we hope have mates somewhere in the current batch of laundry), all I need to do now is iron a shirt and all is ready for work tomorrow. This is a bit of a shame since I have rather got used to not popping along to the office, but I suppose all good things come to an end.

Furtle investigated and arranged for the disposal of the CD racks of Freecycle to a chap who was a) thrilled with what he was getting and b) somewhat bemused by the reality of the size of each one, let alone the four together. He kept mentioning that he had a Volvo Estate and wished he had brought that instead of the VW Golf. Still, we got him sorted at the small cost of anything resembling rear view.

Last night's Who was again good - a notch down on the previous three episodes, but still several notches up on the sad comedy Dalek episodes.

Sir Derek Jacobi1 put in an excellent performance as the Professor as you would expect, and it was interesting to compare his portrayal of the confused more-than-human human with Tennant's of a couple of weeks back. Especially once it became clear that he was a Time Lord of some kith, kin or kine.
There had been much speculation that John Simm's Harold Saxon would feature the return of The Master (apparently Mister Saxon is an anagram of Master No.6, and didn't the assembled hoards of fandom have fun both pointing that out and enumerating the previous five versions of the Master, and wondering whether or not such-and-such could be counted since we only ever saw the back of his head etc), but I don't think anyone had Derek Jacobi down as the same character and I must admit for a moment I wondered if he might not be one of the other Time Lords. The uncalled for mugging of blue insect girl pretty much allayed any suspicions in that direction though.

Anyway, what with the regeneration of and the stealing of the TARDIS by the Master (although I expect that bit to be dealt with in short order next week; automatic return activated by sonic screwdriver, anyone?), the final two weeks have been set up rather nicely.

Interesting, by the way, then when the character was not being shoe-horned into RTD's idea of an adult environment, how much of Captain Jack's charisma returned, though he clearly needs whatever the immortal equivalent of a run in the park and a long cold shower may be.

I guess I should investigate some sort of food in the near future, for I have the hunger. Then I think I shall endeavour to watch Jekyll from last night. I think I set the tape correctly.

1I believe he is the only Knight of the Realm ever to appear on the show.

Well, long term geeks such as me want to know how he got out of the (ahem) "Eye of Harmony" in the Doctor's TARDIS, where he was being digested after the TV movie...

Well rusty wrote queer as folk and one of the character did say that mcgann doesn't count so presumably that means the same for that master too.

Just because a character in another TV programme said something, I don't think we can take it as gospel, even if RTD wrote it!

Anyway: See all ten Doctors, including the McGann version in the Journal of Impossible Things:

I live in a world where, although the McGann doctor is canon, the awful tv-movie is not. That makes my life rosier.

I concur, sort of...

Ah, the wonderful production values, the delightful portrayal of the Doctor, the superb TARDIS console room, the marvelous visual gag with the traffic cop.

The non-existent plot and Julia Roberts' little brother...

Well, they've probably both been soaked in the essence of pure Time Vortex, which tends to provide a pretty good excuse, I reckon.

ah ah ah - that and your comment below.
Master in Time Vortex, Rose takes stuff from Time Vortex and brings many folk to life.
And inadvertantly manyfactures a Master body somewhere with a new set of regens?

Oh oh oh two whole weeks.
"to be continued", one of those phrases you don't want to hear.

That was a thought of mine, but Yana junior was found naked apart from the watch, which he only vaguely bothered to bring with him some nearby wardrobe :-(

Auto return, an idea. Or the Doctor (very quickly) building a hybrid of Jack's wrist gadget powered by sonic screwdriver.
Or the universe ending at a convenient moment just before they are all eaten.

Before it turned out he was the Master, I did wonder if Yana would turn out to be a disposessed Rasilon, and the gravity well at the end of the universe may implode as the Eye of H.

Was he actually a foundling or is that a memory that his Arch gave him, just as J. Smith had memories of coming from Nottingham?

And the amazing thing is that you are all doing this very seriously! I don't know how to break this to you but it's a TV programme, it is, I swear so it could all turn out to have been just a cheese dream of Bobby's while he was in the shower

automatic return activated by sonic screwdriver, anyone?
I have to admit, that's the McGuffin I'm expecting too.

Jacobi was doing so well throughout it all, but I was disappointed with his "I. Am.....The Maaaaster!!!!", ditto with Simm's lapse into mania - bit too bouncy perhaps?

I do think that the episode could have been doubled up though - it just felt too rushed.

I'm not sure but I suspect that the Sonic Screwdriver bit was an attempt to stop the TARDIS from leaving - the up-and-downy column ground to a halt for a moment until The Master jiggled controls to get her going again.

If the Master had used his own Chameleon Arch to make himself into Prof Yana (to hide from the Time War?) then there should be an associated TARDIS hiding somewhere. It of course will be in plain sight as it's Chameleon Circuit should be working, and we will have seen it already - but not recognised it for it was.

Maybe.

LOL I like the "up-and-downy" columny wolumny bit...

Re the Masters TARDIS I suspect I saw something that people who don't get the Radio Times (or collect Panini stickers -and I hope you're all too old for that!) probably won't have seen. and I'm not going to tell ...
but I'll give you a clue...

You are not Alon....nah that's not it !

Check the titles of the spaces for the stickers in the latest Album....
