I have decided not to post any more about work (or at least mark it "private" - I need my catharsis, after all) until work provides an amusing anecdote for me to share.

So don't worry, if you're getting fed up with my grumbling about work, I shall find something else to be curmudgeonly about. Hopefully that will be more entertaining.

Thanks, Emm.

But it's undermining my (in my own head) reputation as a cheerful and likeable grumbler. It's turning me into just a grumbler. And I ent got no hair to pull out, neither!

I offer you

And you can vent in email if it helps, given that I am unlikely to ever see you as anything other than a cheery old curmudgeon.

I find your work grumbling to be generally insightful to the world of the civil service and government. Then again, sometimes if something is really getting you down it's better to walk away and indulge in a bit of escapism than pick the scab. Do whatever makes you feel better and don't worry about whether your posts are entertaining.

We are the ones who gave you your reputation and there ain't nuttin you can do to change it. WE will change it only if WE think that you are no longer the cheerful curmudgeon we say you are. You carry on grumbling about work as mush as you like, we don't count work grumbles into reputation - good grief if we did that we'd all be miserable grumbling b*****s!
We are your friends and that's it matey!

Is the fall-out likely to hit the 25 millions records scale?

I like to read it, but your journal's got to please you, and if it doesn't, guess you must do what feels more fun. Personally I was looking forward to the one where the Monster comes into work with an axe only to find you waiting for her with an AK 47...there's a movie in it already!

I think enough people have suggested that I should carry on ranting, that I shall ...er.. carry on ranting!
