Special Delivery

I had a phone call at work today on my mobile. Nothing particularly unusual about that, except for the fact that it was from the Off Licence three doors along the High Road from the pharmacy below the Athenaeum Club >Gasp!<

"Is that Mr Bryan?" I was asked, "Well, yes, it's Bryan Lea."

"The postman has left a book for you here. You can pick it up anytime, we are open until 10.30."

I must say that it is very decent of them; I guessed what the package must be as I know the supplier has a habit of sticking the addressee's phone number under the address. Given the fact that this is a replacement package, I find myself wondering if someone else on the High Road agreed to take delivery a couple of months ago, of the original, but couldn't be arsed to tell me?

I did find a delivery note from UPS awaiting me when I got home. Whoever had filled it out had used what looked like a poor attempt at cuneiform. Had I not already known what it was trying to tell me, I should probably not have been able to decipher it. As it is, there is a cryptic reference to the pharmacy, so I may pop in there tomorrow and investigate...

Very odd.

But I have my book and I am mightily pleased.
