There is something wrong with my right bloody foot again.

Not the Achilles tendon this time, though I daresay that will come back when it is appropriately inconvenient. No, this time, it is something inside the foot around the joint of the second and third toes. It hurts more when I walk than it does when I simply stand and walking downstairs is an interesting experience. It seemed to start yesterday, but is far more tender today.

I have taken an aged anti-inflammatory to see if that will help do the trick - it was prescribed for backache ages ago and I justify its use now on the grounds that experience tells me that if I keep limping because of the pain in the front of my foot the unnatural gait will make my ankle hurt. The adjustment to my walking because of the ankle will mean that my knee joint will give out and then I shall have to adjust further, which will make my hip sore. Once my hip joint is acting the arse, it's only a matter of time before I feel it at the base of my spine, so I may as well cut to the chase and take the pill now.

Right. Enough prevarication. I have some model painting to do.

I do hope not and I am prepared to invoke the power of denial. Bloody annoying if it is since I am trying to eat more healthily, with more fruit and less lard etc.

Grumble.

Avoid beer and red meat - they are the main issues. Also shellfish. It's all about Purine's apparentley.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gout is actually useful. I in fact have a gout pain in my left foot today just to help...

Watch your BP with those anti-inflammatory pills. Course if your BP is normal, take away. :-D

yep it sounds like gout, dare I say that it is also because of your age - yes you have reached that time of life when this will begin to be said about every ache and pain. The annoying thing is that it is true.

I had gout once and I don't drink at all!!!!

Could it be gout?, my old man who is as skinny as a whippet got gout in his toes due to diet. Try glucosamine if it persists.

Trust me I'm from Gallifrey :)

On the toes, or on the foot?

I have recurrent stabbing pain at the base of my third and fourth toes, on the soul of my foot - which is plantar fasciitis (it tends to be at its worst first thing in the morning. I threw the doctor for a bit as it normally manifests at the heel...

To be fair I had some treatment last summer and it has pretty much gone away.

Gout is more of a burning pain with associated swelling.
