It's like sitting on a see-saw when the person on the other end gets off; there is a decisive shift to one side at the expense of the other.

I have known, understood and accepted for most of the many years that I have known him, that [livejournal.com profile] colonel_maxim is a force of nature. A generally immobile and excessively unkempt force of nature, but at one with the Gods of Chaos at all times. I have come to accept and in certain circumstances, almost admire this quality.

What I hadn't quite prepared myself for was the equal and opposite elemental force residing in [livejournal.com profile] ellefurtle, with me sitting at the confluence of the two energies these past two years.

Well the genii is well and truly out of the bottle now.

The Forces of Chaos are wandering around the Hindu Kush whilst the Lords of Order rolling up their sleeves and descending in all their majesty on the Athenaeum Club. There has been sorting. There has been sorting and bagging. Things have moved from one room to another, exchanging shelves and layout. Some is destined for the charity shops, some will be free cycled, much has been dumped. There is an air of calm and a feeling of space suddenly.

I confess to being a little bewildered by it all and I know that the Karma Pixies are just biding their time before pressing [livejournal.com profile] ellefurtle's klutz button and wreaking some minor devastation upon us that would otherwise have been held in check by the Colonel's sanguine immobility.

Does anyone need a large selection of surplus kitchen knives, by the way? This question is in no way linked to the previous paragraph.

Ah, but shared with whom? 'tis the question.

Actually, we are quite looking forward (other than the effort bit) to having a smaller place with just the two of us. Though I shall very much miss the current bedroom and computer room.
