Well, I have just finished my first serious picture for about five years.

The outline - and most of the serious work was done from life during 40 minutes of fading light on 4 September. I have just spent a half hour tidying* it up and adding shading and such, all from memory. It is still a bit rough and ready, but considering the lack of practice....

My plan was to scan it and email it to the subject with a view to getting permission to post, but now my bloody scanner has died. The power light just won't come on and it is as inert as they come. Luckily, [livejournal.com profile] romney has just offered me the use of his later in the week, so it's not a complete loss, just immensely frustrating.

I am trusting those of you who know who the portrait is supposedly of to say nowt when it's posted; I want to know who, if anyone, recognises it. I myself am not sure it looks like who it is supposed to - and as I said, posting it in the first place all depends upon getting permission from the owner of the face.

*Originally that said 'tarting up', but then I thought the phrase might well be misconstrued.... oops. So, 'tidying'. Sorry!

I have a flatbed scanner which only works with Windows 98 and below, I doubt it's any use to you - but you are welcome to it if you want it.

Well I still use win98...

For the immediate problem I'll have to look to [livejournal.com profile] romney, but unless my acquisitive spend thrift gene kicks in, I may take you up on that, ta.
