X2

I have just retuned from the Kinematographic Palladium.

[livejournal.com profile] romney and I went to see X2. We thought we better hadwhile it is still on, and given that the World and His Wife (Hello, World family!) all want to see Matrix Reloaded, there were lots and lots of empty seats.

An enjoyable film which will find its way into the DVD collection in due course. As [livejournal.com profile] kneeshooter I think it was, mentioned a few Journals back there were lots of nods to the fanboy element out there without making it inaccessible to the casual viewer. Not quite as good as the hype might suggest. The familiar problem raised its ugly head: trying to find enough for a growing ensemble cast to do without muddying the plot and replacing it solely with action. It was a close call, but Bryan Singer just about pulled it off, I think.

Oh, and I think we all know what the next plot line is going to be, don't we?

It goes like this. )

Oh, and Halle Berry. Rar. Down Boy.

Whimper.

By God, I'd forgotten just how much I love this album.

Time for a Caravan retrospective, I think.

Dust off those CDs and start playing.....

So here we are. Wednesday dawns bright and sunny (where was that when I needed it?) and it's back in the Office.

I need a quick, sure-fire way of becoming rich with minimal effort on my part.

I have looked at the list of aged relatives and quickly discounted a massive inheritance followed by a title.

I have looked at the area my parents live in and have equally discounted the possibility of buried treasure (Har. Pieces of Eight...Har) beyond the vague possibility of finding a bit of Harry Hotspur's thumb or similar - they live on the edge of Shrewsbury battlefield, you see.

I am both too lazy and too unimaginative to think of or work on building a fortune of my own, and am equally capable of pissing money away like it's going out of fashion.

In fact I have publicly stated on numerous occasions that one of my favourite hobbies is spending money I don't have on things I don't need. See for example my multicoloured frock-coat icon (and indeed, the matching cloak that will go with it during and after the next NWO event, provided [livejournal.com profile] magpye doesn't forget - and I have no reason to assume she will).

So, circumstances throw me back on Old un-Dependable.

Pure random chance.

OK Fate, I'm waiting.

Make me rich. In your own time, but soon would be nice. (A tenner on the lottery as a show of good faith...?).

I just got my P60 for the financial year 2002-2003.

I officially now pay more in tax than my annual pay was for 1982-1983, the first year I had a full time job after graduating.

It's taken me exactly 20 years. I rather think it should have taken a much smaller period to achieve.

Hmmm.
