Nineteen years, 13 days, 22 hours and 20 minutes .

That's how long it has taken the Wolves to return to the top division after a relegation slide that nearly saw the club go bankrupt and out of the league altogether. There was a fairly rapid fall from grace followed by an equally rapid rise back to the old second division in thye 1980s. Then 13 years of stagnation as the 2nd division became division 1 following the setting up of the Premiership.

And the boys in Old Gold and Black missed out.

And then, last year they bottled what should have been automatic promotion to lose in the play-offs.

But as of yesterday we're back! And not a moment too soon. Sir Jack, the team's benefactor will be 80 next week and the poor old cove was beginning to think he wouldn't live long enough to see the club that has swallowed such a chunk of his fortune over the past 13 years take the final step up.

Next season will be a long, hard slog. But we'll worry about that later. Now is the time for celebration. Or at least recovering from celebration.

I was a little er, tired and emotional last night, but am surprisingly chipper this morning considering the amount of BEER consumed yestereve and afternoon.

But the Boys are back: Premiership footy at the Molineux next season.
