Well, after a generally boring weekend, I spent a much better evening in the company of [livejournal.com profile] romney, DT and John G sans LJ. Which is just as well, since though splendid fellow that I clearly am, I was tiring of my own company. I am now drinking late-nite coffee in an attempt to counter the alcohol a little afore beddy-byes.

Sky showed the final 2 episodes of Futurama this evening, and although there was the odd good line, overall it's quite clear that Matt Groening's heart was in it no longer following the bust up with Fox.

I doubt I am the only one who will mourn the passing of Zoidberg especially.

Well, this post is sufficiently mundane to attract response after response.

Goodnight, cyberworld.

Now here's a little tip you might find useful.

If you find yourself having just come home from the pub on, for the sake of argument, a Sunday evening, and you get the urge to tidy up your kitchen, resist.

I cannot stress this too urgently.

RESIST.

Tidy the kitchen up when your enthusiasm is not alcoholically enhanced.

Why, you ask?

Well, let's say you wake up on, again - for the sake of argument, Monday morning, and troll into the kitchen for you usual cup of coffee, it is not beyond the realms of probability that you will find yourself burrowing into a bin bag looking for all the useful stuff you threw out the night before.

You know the stuff: favourite cup, coffee and teaspoon. Medication and so forth.

I have to say that I'm in awe of Gene Roddenberry's Andromeda.

Now I may have missed something somewhere down the line, but I don't think so. Everytime I tune in, it's just that little bit worse than last time. I'm sure there's a story ark in there somewhere - they keep referring to it, but that seems to be an excuse for the annual end of season spectacular. There's no clear continuity between the episodes and I tell yer, if t'weren't for Lexa Doig.

I don't know what the old feller had in mind all those yeras ago when he came up with the concept (probably just the name), but I'm rather glad he's not around to see what they've done with it. Having said that, who knows what crap he might have made of it.

Let us take a moment to think on the character that was Wesley Crusher and shudder in appropriate horror.

In brighter news, Underworld hits the silver screen in about a month.

I have high hopes for a genre movie that pits vampires against werewolves and stars Kate Beckinsale as an elite vampire warrior clad in leather.

Stroll on.

Who'd have thought Lenny Godber's little girl would have grown up quite like that?

Nurse, the screens.

Pah.

When you go to the effort of buying Hungarian Prog (as part of my great tour of the world by CD), it comes as something of a disappointment to hear them singing in English. Still, the lyric isn't as bad as some written by native English speakers.

Anekdoten and a bunch of other Scandinavian bands sing in English too. I wish they wouldn't sometimes. Nordman are unashamedly, comprehensively and incomprehensibly (incomprehensively?) Swedish, which means that their lyrics could be shite, but to those stout monoliguists among us, the words are just another instrumental sound and that works fine.

Oh. I typed too soon. This track is in Hungarian. I suppose I should have known, with a track name like ösz. This is all quite nice actually. It has a sort of sub-Renaissance feel, though the female vocalist isn't as powerful as the great Annie Haslam, but then so few are. On the other hand, she does rejoice in the name Völgyessy Szomor Fanni.

Try saying that to your aunt.

To complete tonight's musical odyssey, I shall give a listen to Shylock's Ile de Fièvre. As the title suggests, they are of the French persuasion. Their other album, Gialorgues is a rather splendid instrumental effort and I have high hopes for this one, too.
