Survey

Imagine my surprise to find that I am being surveyed.

Somebody trading under the perilous soubriquet of [livejournal.com profile] her_eminence, has befrended me and may even now be surveying me.

Greetings, Eminence, though I know ye not, I strongly suspect from what little information is available that you are not American. Enjoy your stay.

It seems that the only thing we have in common -stated at least - is His Eminence the Cardinal Armand Jean du Plessis, Duc de Richelieu. Still, if one has to have a single interest in common, it may as well be His Emininence. This is, after all, the man who said:

If you give me six lines written
by the most honest man, I will find
something in them to hang him.

I do not believe that I have ever been surveyed before. Mind you with a waistline like mine the odd theodolyte could easily get missed, so it's not impossible.

Changing the mood entirely, I have decided to take this post as the opportunity to début my new 'Om' icon. You, my only reader will have already noticed this since I am aware that you pay attention to these things. Nonetheless I take passing pleasure in stating the bleeding obvious.

Just so you know, it was Watt Tyler who lead the Peasants' Revolt.

Not to be confused with Which Tyler who lead the Pedants' Revolt.

I can't make up my mind whether this two litre bottle of Coke from which I am quaffing is an example of globalisation or diversity in action (to use two twenty-first century buzz words in one sentence).

As we know, Coke is an American product, but this bottle was was purchased in London from an Asian outlet, having originated it seems, in Poland.

And to think that but 30 years ago it was usually a case of Panda Cola or Vimto, like it or lump it. Although we should not forget the honourable mention to Corona lemonade and dandelion & burdock etc - though since these rarely came in cans so I'm not sure they count.

You have to hunt high and low for dandelion and burdock nowadays.

O Tempores, O Mores.
