Plus ça change
Monday, February 9th, 2004 12:03 pmMonday morning, and my first letter from a disgruntled member of the public in quite some time.
The letter is one of those delightful semiliterate jobs typed painstakingly on a cranky old typewriter ENTIRELY IN CAPITALS BECAUSE THAT MAKES EVERYTHING MUCH CLEARER.
It is pretty clear that correspondence section have sent it to me because the word 'rent' is used a number of times, and they don't know what to do with it. Well, neither do I. This poor old bloke has complained about everything from garage rents, traffic density, buying his council house, the use of council receipts, war pensions and Steven Byers MP.
He is trying to wield the power of the grey vote. It now appears that I have to try and find the correct type of clerical hair dye to soothe his ancient brow.
