Underworld

Well, despite [livejournal.com profile] ashenkat's concerns, I enjoyed Underworld. Although I accept that there is too little of the swirly leather coat and the cat suit. I don't think I agree about Kate Beckinsale's lack of charisma - or rather I think that given she was playing an immortal killer her cold delivery was quite apt.

Certainly Bill Nighy as Viktor rather made up for it in the charisma department, but then that's Bill Nighy, isn't it? What else would you expect from him? (Touted as a possible contender for the new Doctor, by the way).

What is it about vampires as a concept that makes them interesting? I don't know. I mean, they always seem to have a sense of style - outside the Buffyverse of course. It must be the strength/immortality thing, since the blood part is positively icky and anyone who says otherwise is either telling porkies or needs serious counselling. I mean, Highlander covered the same ground without the need for extreme sunblock and a mightily restricted diet, and that worked nicely. Well, the TV show did. The jury is still out and won't be returning soon on the movie sequence. I mean, Highlander 2, really guys...

Of course, I now need to watch Underworld on a bigger, and widescreen telly. This is where Johnny Cheapshot (aka [livejournal.com profile] romney) redeems himself.

... sounds like volume three of a big encyclopaedia.

Already I digress.

I logged on merely to share the news that I have just yawned so hard that the top of my head nearly fell off. This despite the coffee. I think I should wander off out for some fresh air (or what passes as fresh air in Clapham) and something to eat.

I have then promised myself a day in front of the keyboard writing NWO, but suddenly the dust bunny near my foot looks very entertaining....
