Despite my eager pronouncements, it has taken but three days to fall into the late-to-bed, late-to-rise routine. I think I shall have to start setting the alarm again, although for not quite as early as if I was getting up to go to work. I certainly don't want to doze away the entirety of my daylight hours while I'm off.

The cocktail of prescription pharmacoepia I am currently on is having unexpected side effects. I shall spare you the details, but suffice it to say that should I find myself becalmed on a tea clipper in the doldrums, I could provide the necessary locomotive power until we hit more amenable latitudes. Cripes.

I never did get back to writing proper yesterday once [livejournal.com profile] boroshan turned up. He made modifications to my computer, some of which worked and some of which didn't. The one that did, was the installation of a Mozilla browser which I am now trying out instead of Explorer.

Mozilla is what Netscape would have been if Microsquash hadn't reamed the marketplace so completely and effectively made the further development of Netscape economically unviable. Of course, the response, making the code available to the world for free wasn't what Billy-Bob Gates had in mind, so we now have Mozilla which is what Netscape might have been if allowed to flourish and develop. It's stable, and because it has been communally developed by gazillions of Microsquash haters, it has none of the annoying backdoors and deliberate omissions that does Explorer.

I also have privoxy installed now. I'm not sure what that does. [livejournal.com profile] boroshan did explain, but I've largely forgotten. I do know that it stops many annoying intarweb features such as pop ups and animated adverts/banner ads, though if you really want the full experience you can turn those features back on. It also does things with cookies which means that you can decide to accept them as and when and all are discombobulated once the session is over. Of course, my firewall should do this too, but I've found that as good as it is, it's not quite as flexible as I'd like, so some adware and stuff still gets through (unless I lock it up so tight that even the intarweb doesn’t get through).

The ftp agent we installed so that I can start making use of the scads of webs storage I'm entitled to, on the other hand didn't work. That's to say it does, but not on my web entitlement. So I've had to email the ISP for help. That was yesterday - as usual, they are so speedy coming back with a response that I'm still stalled.

I was going to traipse off to Salisbury’s but I think I'll post[pone that by an hour or so since it's hailing again (for the second time in as many days). Although I have a north facing window, hail is able to get in through an open window effortlessly even if that means turning a corner and falling up hill.

Odd stuff.

More writing this afternoon, I think.

I thought I'd start this with meme (I'm still less than convinced that this is the right word, but...):

yellow aura
Your aura shines Yellow!

What Color Is Your Aura?
brought to you by Quizilla

Once again I am taking a break from writing to do some writing (Yes, Baggy, I will do some painting or drawing at some point).

Introspective ramble. )
