Well, I've just emailed off one newly completed NWO character sheet and a revised one to [livejournal.com profile] pax_draconis so I'm feeling pretty pleased with myself even if it did take a little longer than anticipated.

Tomorrow I think I shall do something else, maybe draw something before [livejournal.com profile] nyarbaggytep nags me again. Certainly I'm not writing anything new until Friday at least and I doubt much will be done then if I can scrape together the funds for a trip to Colchester for [livejournal.com profile] magpye's birthday bash. The money is not a direct problem, it's more a matter of cash flow; there's always too much month left at the end of the money, and I want to avoid transferring anything from my savings if I possibly can.

I think that next week I shall take several peoples' advice and Get the hell out of Dodge for a few days. I think I shall go home to sunny Shropshire and bask in the greenness that is not a city. But first I have to rearrange my next appointment with the doctor as this morning I received a letter cancelling the existing appointment. I need to know how much longer I shall be off work before making firm travel plans. My current sick note already expires two days before the cancelled appointment, and though I'd warned the office to expect a slightly delayed return, I'm now even less sure when that will be since I was told not to go back until the doctor gave me the go ahead.

My two weeks may well become three weeks at this rate. Such a shame.

On matters of travel, DT sans LJ asked if I fancied a trip over to Egypt in April to see his brother Steve who works in the British Consulate over there. Free board and lodging within range of the pyramids. I'm sorely tempted, but I'm not sure how the money will hold out it being so close to Easter and all when I have other plans.

If I do both, i.e. the usual Easter trip followed by a week in Egypt, the office will think I'm avoiding them. Tish, tosh. Perish the thought. But I am sorely tempted....

I may have to sell a major internal organ to finance it.

As noted previously, I received a letter from the doctor's surgery yesterday advising me that they have cancelled my appointment and so I have to phone to arrange another.

This raises an exciting possibility that has only just occurred to me through careful perusal of the calendar. I am, as the careful reader will recall, under strict instructions not to return to work until after the doctor has seen me again, and given me the go-ahead. I already noted that this means that my fortnight off is in grave danger of becoming three weeks. Shame, that. But here is the next bit - that takes me straight into Easter, which I traditionally take as a week off anyway.

I have a glowy, happy feeling that my two weeks is expanding into four away from the office. Now, if I can get him to sign that slip for two weeks instead of one, I shall have had a month without eating up valuable annual leave time. This is potentially bloody wonderful!

And since I no longer care deeply what happens in that place, there is no obvious downside.

Do any of you, dear readers, have URLs for good sites on which to look for jobs in say, the West Midlands or environs?

Even if turns out that I have to go back in the office before Easter, I am currently borne along by a wave of optimism.
