(no subject)
Monday, August 30th, 2004 11:38 pmWell, that was the weekend, that was.
Other than purchasing replacement trousers for those I mangled last week, and doing a modicum of painting, I can't say that I have really achieved anything. Ho-hum.
Still, I have borrowed a digital camera for next week, and the incipient paranoia that was setting in over my perceptions of a lack of NWO froth have been allayed somewhat by a last minute barrage of questions from players together with an increasing appearance of the subject in one form or another on people's LJs.
Today I indulged my taste for psychedelia and purchased a copy of Mr. Fantasy by Traffic, and Part of my Past, an anthology of music by Simon Dupree and the Big Sound. I daresay that perhaps as few as one of the people on my friends list will have heard of the latter (yes,
cybersofa, I am talking about you). I never understood the band's name since none of the members was called Simon Dupree. The other thing that I never knew before today was that three of the members, the Shulman brothers, went on to found Gentle Giant, a snippet that may interest
matte_kudesai.
At them moment, however, I am indulging in a little '70s nostalgia with my other purchase of the day, Rock Follies, the soundtrack to the TV series of the same name. Songs written by Andy Mackay of Roxy Music fame. (Sad to say I also have the series on DVD - it has aged a bit, but is still watchable).
So the bank holiday is over. Work tomorrow.
Joy.
