January is a poor month for work
Thursday, January 13th, 2005 10:44 amIf you don't hear from me over the next few days or weeks, it's because sometime today I shall have lapsed into a bored coma.
One of the less edifying tasks we have here, in this section of Two-Jags Towers is the design and production of electronic claim forms for our web browser based subsidy system. That bit, of course is fine and dandy. But I get to check the links between the cells, and the formulae contained there in.
It is not exciting work, and to make things worse, it requires a reasonable level of attention and concentration, otherwise it is easy to make or overlook mistakes that can come back and bite you on the arse eighteen months to two years down the line.
Once I have done that piece of work on the claim form, and tested it, I have to do something even more scintillating. Update the branch's file list, which is going all electronic in these heady new Freedom of Information days. This is all lackey work, but lackey is still off on long term sick leave, and I have left it too long, and what started off as low priority work is now urgent, so I can't ignore it as it deserves.
Grumble.
What else? Oh, yes. I have to update an excel worksheet to bring calculations for transitional items up to date.
>Yawn<
It involves look up tables. I hate writing look up tables.
