If you don't hear from me over the next few days or weeks, it's because sometime today I shall have lapsed into a bored coma.

One of the less edifying tasks we have here, in this section of Two-Jags Towers is the design and production of electronic claim forms for our web browser based subsidy system. That bit, of course is fine and dandy. But I get to check the links between the cells, and the formulae contained there in.

It is not exciting work, and to make things worse, it requires a reasonable level of attention and concentration, otherwise it is easy to make or overlook mistakes that can come back and bite you on the arse eighteen months to two years down the line.

Once I have done that piece of work on the claim form, and tested it, I have to do something even more scintillating. Update the branch's file list, which is going all electronic in these heady new Freedom of Information days. This is all lackey work, but lackey is still off on long term sick leave, and I have left it too long, and what started off as low priority work is now urgent, so I can't ignore it as it deserves.

Grumble.

What else? Oh, yes. I have to update an excel worksheet to bring calculations for transitional items up to date.

>Yawn<

It involves look up tables. I hate writing look up tables.

I have just realised what I am doing wrong.

The past couple of days I have had an intermittent cough, the last vestiges of the cold I had at the weekend. Sometimes it is almost entirely absent, sometimes it is annoyingly persistent, though the periods of persistence are becoming more intermittent.

Anyway, my coffee intake has spiralled as I find myself unaccountably tired during the day, despite sleeping reasonably well at night (Tuesday's late admittance to the Land of Nod not withstanding). Feel tired? Drink coffee; wake up. That's the theory.

Anyway, I've just looked at the label cough medicine: Actifed Multi-Action for the first time since checking the dosage when I bought it.

May cause drowsiness.

Ah. That'd be it, then.

No wonder I can't bloody concentrate on anything.

Now I've heard it all.

London Underground, copying so it seems, New York, are scaring youths out of Tube stations in the East End by piping loud classical music at them. Only one youth said it wouldn't bother him on the TV article, but reckoned it might be OK with a bit of bass and drum mixed in.
