Pining for the fjords
Monday, May 2nd, 2005 11:27 amWhilst I am, in many ways, baffled by the 21st Century - it really doesn't behave like a century should, you know, especially a young century (maybe it has ideas above its station, being the first of a millennium, and all?) - I am clearly integrated into it far more deeply than I thought.
Sometime after 10pm last, the broadband went down. Dead as a dodo it was, and no amount of swearing, pleading or extreme viloence to the router would fix it. It stayed down until about 10am this morning.
In the meantime, I have prowled around and stared at my computer. I have turned it on, I have turned it off. I started writing something, and then I stopped (though I did save the few paragraphs I got down). I played some music on it, and then stopped. Oh, this is internet withdrawal, folks. Internet withdrawal.
And I didn't even want to look anything up, or surf particularly. I jusat couldn't. And I had the fear.
