Finally, the wind down toward the Christmas break has begun; somebody has turned the heating up in the office and I am getting a little bit drowsy.
This is in rather startling contrast to yesterday when I toyed briefly with the idea of going on a machete rampage. Yesterday was the culmination of a great deal of work, some of which has been bemoaned loudly on this very forum (usually behind friends’ only screening to protect the innocent (ie. me from such joys as the sack and/or being sued for libel).
I had anticipated a busy morning, but it just got ridiculous. When, after twenty minutes, five people had come along with variations on the phrase, ”stop what you’re doing, this needs to be done immediately”, I decided that the only course of action open to me was aggressive tetchiness. This had the desired effect and I was blissfully undisturbed after that for most of the day. And the ‘immediate’ work was delegated elsewhere. The intrusion was particularly unwelcome as at least half of it was down to THAT WOMAN© and™ clearing her desk for the Christmas break, having held the papers un-actioned since late October.
Anyways up. It’s all done now despite the best attempts of our own email system to sabotage the process. I logged on this morning to find that our own firewall had vetoed the delivery of anything to any address beginning with ‘a’ or ‘b’. Still, it all seems to have gone at the second attempt.
I may write some Christmas cards.
