I have spent today walking on eggshells. I have tried desperately not to do anything that might invite retribution from the karma pixies. They like balance, you see; it's a yin-yang sort of thing. Whenever something good happens there must be an equivalent restorative downside elsewhere.

So I have spent the day trying my absolute best to ensure that any karmic-balance restoring does not come my way, because if it does it will be a bloody corker to make up for the positive swing my life has taken. I have a theory (untested) that if I can maintain the world as it is right now for long enough, that THIS will become the default setting, and the balance will always re-set to this.

So, to placate the karma pixies, I have a plan. For the next few days I shall spend an appropriate part of each day patting rabid old ladies on the head, and helping dogs to cross the road.

Some time not too far distant, I intend to hit the town. I hope it doesn't hit back.

Any moment now, I am going to start writing. Yes I am. That's why I took today off work, so I could sit at home and catch up on my writing commitment for NWO.

And I shall. Yes indeedy, any moment now. I'm just building up to it, preparing myself mentally, and doing the pre-writing finger exercises that limber up my fingers.

OK, that's it. Ready to go. Five-four-three-two...

Coffee.

The Director's Cut

Right. I am being deafened by the sudden sound of pennies dropping, and as nice as it is, the sudden flurry of activity on MSN Messenger (despite the busy sign) is distracting an already very distracted [livejournal.com profile] caddyman.

What most of you have surmised is correct, and we are very happy about it, and thank you all for your good wishes. Well, I do, anyway and so I suspect does Elle.

Suffice it to say that I have replayed the events of the past couple of days over and over, digitally reworked the cinematography in my head, checked the lighting effects and had the leading man back in to re-record his dialogue which was hopelessly fluffed at the time on account of his being a star struck rookie. The soundtrack, tasteful and not too obtrusive, but with just the right number of strings has been added.

I now have the director's cut in my memory, along with the raw footage.

I have bottled the entire experience and laid it down like a vintage claret in the back of my head, to be revisited and savoured regularly.

Probably with cheese.

Until the day I can download the Director's Cut to video, that's as much as you get.

I am now going back to staring in horror at the character sheet I am trying to write and am turning Messenger off for a few hours. Normal service will be resumed as soon as we know what normal service is, to coin a phrase.

If you would care to tip the maitre d' on your way out, the management would be most appreciative and remember: this is a residential area, so it would be appreciated if you could keep the noise down as you leave the theatre.

*Bows to audience; National Anthem plays very crackly and slightly too fast on the tannoy, curtains close and lights come up slowly*

This has been a Bryan&Elle production, copyright 2006. All Rights reserved. Filmed entirely on location. No animals were hurt in the making of this story

My eyes are sore, even with my reading glasses on.

Six pages down, and probably twice that to go... I am taking a music rest for an hour or two, maybe until tomorrow, but hopefully I can get another page done later tonight.

But I'm on the final stretch before editing starts.
