The heat, Carruthers, the damned heat
Tuesday, June 13th, 2006 12:31 amWe're supposed to be getting thunderstorms tonight. I hope they arrive, but I'm not holding my breath; they're showing no sign of arrival, though I guess there is still plenty of time.
I must admit that I am somewhat ambivalent about the possibility of a rapid temperature change and a heavy downpour. On the one hand, the constant heat has probably delivered an effect similar to living in a sauna, and that's supposed to be good for you. On the other, the constant sound of my brain frying on the inside of my skull is getting to be an annoyance and is, I am sure, a contributory factor in my failure to get a decent night's sleep. It is, I think, sending me slowly potty. Not that living on the edge of madness doesn't have its little consolations: the view, for example, is terrific.
I am going to have a shower, now. I may return and ramble in a few minutes. It depends on how quickly I cool down.
