Mutant Horse

I was right.

It's rained. Quite heavily, but not heavily or for long enough to break the heat, merely to boost the humidity. I want a thunder storm!

Different subject: my two new armchairs should be turning up from IKEA tomorrow. Then I have to try and assemble the brutes. Should be a laugh: just me, bits and pieces and an alum key.

Cripes.

Delivery Day

It is nine'o'clock in the morning and I now have to settle in to wait for the two armchairs from IKEA. [livejournal.com profile] ellefurtle disappeared downstairs and placed a sign on the door urging Parcel Farce to keep ringing as we are in. Good idea.

I am vaguely annoyed to be waiting on Parcel Farce at all. I was under the impression that IKEA would deliver themselves; after all, what is the point in making you search their website to see if they deliver in your area if they are just going to slap the stuff in to Parcel Farce? I seem to recall that the website said they would be in touch to arrange delivery details, too. Of course they haven't been. I find myself strangely irked by all this, as though I have been mislead on some point of grand principle, but really I haven't. It's just my dislike of Parcel Farce that's got me steaming at the edges.

Ho hum.

Having spent the morning unable to move on account of having to wait for Parcel Farce, the armchairs have now arrived, are assembled and have been sat on to test them out. For the moment there are great wads of cardboard and stuff in the living room waiting to be tidied up, but that can all wait until I have a) cooled down, b) dried off, and c) finished my can of coke.

I had thought that today was nice and cool and so it is. It is also humid as all Hell again, so assembly of the armchairs has left me in urgent need of a shower.

Furtle is on a train headed toward Derby and won't be back until late tomorrow afternoon. I must think of ways of entertaining myself.

So hello then, [livejournal.com profile] expatnerd. Do I actually know you or are you someone who just popped up out of the ether?

I don't mind either way; just asking.
