As updates go, this is a bit drab.

Whatever it was about my LJ that was upsetting the firewall seems entirely absent today (and no,
smittumi, I don't think it was your rant that set it off! ;-) ), and I have full and easy access to the old girl as usual. I've said it before, and I'll say it again, digital technology is an inconstant friend. It is like a Leyland shop steward in the 1970s - one word out of place and offence is taken. Two words and it's down tools and everyone out.
Of course we all know what happened to British Leyland, so at some point digital technology* will have to sort its act out.
I think I might have to find a third power adapter for my scanner - the replacement I used was buzzing happily to itself and getting rather warm. I don't like electric plugs that buzz; they worry me. The last thing I need is for the christmas tree of plugs, sockets, adapters, extensions and cables going on the frizz (literally, if I'm not careful) and incinerating the garret.
Mind you, it'd do for the mouse.
*To be fair, I am rather using the term, 'digital technology' as a euphemism for Microsquash. Not all tech is annoyingly unpredictable.
