From somewhere behind me in the office there has just been an entirely satisfying china/porcelain clank and an endearingly liquid noise followed by a very audible intake of breath. There are now sounds of frantic scurrying. I suspect someone’s keyboard and desk are now damper and stickier than they would like.
I’m not quite sure what happened to the ‘big freeze’ over night. While it is still chilly and damp and there is ice around, it feels somewhat less Arctic than the weather forecast would have us believe. This does not bode well for my proposed attempt to photograph frozen ducks at lunchtime.
