Dashed...

Just for a few minutes there it looked as though our dreams would be answered and the possibility of a second snow day was held out tantalisingly before being snatched away.

It was snowing when I came home, not much, but with persistence. At Eight 'o'clock when I went to the Griffin for the quiz, the weather was bitter and the snow was piling down; the High Road was wet, but the pavement was beginning to get greasy and those on the side roads beginning to cover over. Cover over over enough, indeed, to crump as I walked. By the time Furtle arrived at the pub about fifteen minutes later, it was less cold but still snowing.

But now, having got home after the quiz - we came first equal but third on the tie break, so third again - it is cold, but raining. Wet rain yes. Dragon breath, yes. Snow, no. Work tomorrow, then.

Unless it piles down unexpectedly in the wee small hours. But I suspect it won't.
