Kick Ass

The few stills I've seen suggest that visually at least, Kick Ass the movie based on Mark Millar and John Romita Jr's comic of the same name will follow it very closely. Initial reports also suggest that it will be uncompromisingly bloody, too. A quick bounce around the internet has turned up this production still, which looks promising, though in the comic the kid is rather more weedy than stringy. Nonetheless, not the usual muscle-bound offering:



Whether it lives up to such panels as this, we shall have to see...



I am torn; genre movies are becoming unremittingly dark and gritty (Iron Man being a solid and fun exception). Part of me likes this and another, equally interested part, mourns the loss of fun the earlier adaptations had. You should not take this to be a plea for more Adam West style Batman films, but there should be a happy medium somewhere along the line.

Talking of which, I see that Chris Hemsworth has been cast to play Thor in the forthcoming offering from Marvel, with rumours that Brian Blessed will play Odin.

Insomnia

I guess that it will be getting light in the next 20 minutes or so, but having lain in bed for an hour without even the hint of a doze, I decided it was probably less boring and more comfortable to get up and have a cup of tea. So here I am, blogging at what, 3.13am, with tired eyes but no sign of sleep.

It doesn't help that it's warm, too. Just beginning to cool off a little, but not enough to warrant turning the fan off. I really hate this time of year sometimes. I don't generally find it so hard to get to sleep and stay asleep in the winter.

And of course, everyone else is asleep, so there's no-one to chat with online and no-one is updating anything.
