Quizzing tonight?
Thursday, July 9th, 2009 11:20 amHere’s the thing, chaps. Was anyone from the good and deserving friends either my or Furtle’s friends list thinking about coming along to the quiz tonight?
I ask simply for the purposes of planning seating and stuff; since the ambient temperature has dropped to more comfortable levels, I rather expect the pub to be somewhat more crowded than over the past fortnight when many of the participants decamped to the beer garden rather than swelter in the main building.
As usual, there is no pressure or anything; come along or not as you fancy, but for once it would be helpful to know.
We won’t be upset if no-one comes along; it’s only a pub quiz!

Thursday, July 9th, 2009 04:54 pmI am officially narked and I am now a half day behind on my work.
I have not managed to make a start of the drafting because I have had to sort out someone else’s work that should have been done weeks ago and I thought had been.
I shall compound my lateness by stomping off home in a suitable huff at about 5.30. If people can take a couple of days off while leaving urgent tasks undone for weeks, I can go home earlier than I should.
So there.

Hah! Bloody cricket. I was reasonably happy with England’s first innings total of 435 all out, though it could have been better if Pietersen hadn’t flung his bat around like a Dervish. Now of course, with the Aussies on 208-1, it appears that the England attack is getting nowhere.
And it appears that I am being haunted by my granddad. I work in a smoke-free office and I gave up smoking myself over two years ago but I cannot get away from the smell of old pipe tobacco. It’s not even the posh whisky tobacco he used on special occasions, either. It’s more like burnt sock.
