Hah! Bloody cricket. I was reasonably happy with England’s first innings total of 435 all out, though it could have been better if Pietersen hadn’t flung his bat around like a Dervish. Now of course, with the Aussies on 208-1, it appears that the England attack is getting nowhere.

And it appears that I am being haunted by my granddad. I work in a smoke-free office and I gave up smoking myself over two years ago but I cannot get away from the smell of old pipe tobacco. It’s not even the posh whisky tobacco he used on special occasions, either. It’s more like burnt sock.

Tell your grandad that you know it is him and if he could be a little clearer about what he wants you to do it would help. Sometimes Spirit forgets that we all failed hints at 'O' level and we need things spelled out for us.

He could just be watching you because you seem stressed - or it could be someone at the next desk who needed to dry his socks quickly so he ironed them and scorched them in the process...

Speaking as someone who completely hates ciggy smoke, I find pipe smoke and cigar smoke perfectly okay, even pleasant. Why that is, I dunno. Do they contain none of the yucky additives in ciggies? One of life's tiny mysteries, ho-hum.
