Aching paws and Moonkin stains
Sunday, July 19th, 2009 04:52 pmThis Ibuprofen pain relief gel is remarkable stuff. For the past week or so, my Achilles tendons have been giving me incredible grief. Usually when I walk for any length of time, they stretch a little and all is well.
On Friday, I walked most of the West End after leaving work - Tube to Oxford Circus, a detour into the Apple Store and then by foot from Oxford Circus to Forbidden Planet on the junction of Shaftesbury Avenue and St Giles' High Street. A pootle around the store and then on foot down to Embankment and, having picked up Furtle, back up to The Captain's Cabin just off the back of Haymarket before wandering to Ed's Easy Diner by the Trocadero. In all that distance, there was no sign of the ache giving up; the tendons refused to stretch and it was hobble all the way.
I daubed ibuprofen gel on my tendons and calf muscles after my shower that night and I have not felt a twinge, since.
The reason for the trip into the West End in the first place was to meet up with
bytepilot and
thalinoviel for drinks, food and chat. Toward the end of the evening we met a couple of other people, but sadly my inability to remember names has kicked in and I cannot remember who they were, though they were lovely people.
We left a little earlier than intended because of fatigue; we had rather overdone it the night before, and the combination of lack of sleep, alcohol and food undermined our stamina. Hopefully everyone had a good time despite our having to leave relatively early and I think we should arrange to do the same thing again, soon.
Yesterday and today I have been listening to the cricket and doing my best not to jinx things by mentioning it too much. I shall say no more now as England are doing well, but seem to have let Australia off the hook a little and need to take another wicket. I'll leave that subject alone now, for fear of provoking the Karma Pixies.
Between times I have been working on a World of Warcraft Moonkin for a card
ellefurtle is going to send to guild member who has been taken to hospital with a heart attack. I think the picture is finished, but putting the finishing touches to a Moonkin has left me with Juniper Green all over my hands. Tch. That'll take days to come off.
With luck I'll get the picture scanned and posted up a little later.
Later, kids.
