Where do weekends go these days? No, really; you clock off work on Friday evening, scratch your bum and suddenly it’s Monday morning and you are heading back into the office – which, by the way, if the temperature here is anything to judge by, is receiving cheap top ups (tops up?) from the furnaces in Hell.

We spent a large and enjoyable chunk of the weekend visiting [livejournal.com profile] caffeine_fairy and [livejournal.com profile] chomper99 down in Wallington, which is about as far south of the river as we are north of it. Note for future: It is Zone 4, not Zone 6 and our Oyster cards are valid. The trip down after work on Friday was something of a trial, as we had forgotten to factor the rush hour effect into the equation. It being autumn meant that the trains were subject to delays due to the unforeseen fall of leaves that catches the train companies out each year. This was compounded by the effects of the wind and rain – England in November: wind and rain, who’d a thunk it?

Anyway, once we got there, we had a fine time. We were well fed and watered, played a silly card game, the name of which I forget, but it was a sort of reverse snap, involving animal noises. Very silly. We capped of the evening by playing a Mornington Crescent variant involving cheese. I have no idea who won. Probably no-one as we ended up googling cheese names after about half an hour.

The trip back on Saturday was rather more relaxed. We somehow managed to find a gap in the weather and, of course, it wasn’t rush hour that time around.

Sunday. Ahh, Sunday. Chores. I wish to be rich enough to have someone do the chores for me. Dream on.
