Typical autumn weather.

Yesterday I wished that I’d worn a coat – or at least at tee shirt under my shirt and jacket on the way into work. It was blustery and cold and I was less than warm.

In the evening, on the way home, the wind had dropped and although there was a spot of rain in the air, the drops were few and far between, so it wasn’t too cold on the trek from station to home.

As the evening progressed, however, it felt chillier and chillier. This is of course, partly due to the fact that once you are sitting down relaxing, you are generating much less heat, but once I’d gone to bed, I woke up a couple of times during the night because an arm or a foot was sticking out from under the duvet and frankly uncomfortably cold. Getting up this morning was a chore for the very same reason.

Having paid attention, for once, to the weather forecast, I noted that the arse end of the storms that have been hitting the north and west of the country were scheduled to wander south and east and that the temperature was expected to hover around between 1º and 5º, so here I am at work, with a tee shirt under my shirt, my fedora sitting on the filing cabinet beside me, a warm coat over the back of my chair and my jacket rolled up in my bag in case I need it for meetings.

I am roasting.

You can’t win.
