caddyman: (Snowman)
It’s cold in the office today. I think it is warming up now, but there a relatively few people here – some have started their Christmas break early and a couple of the more feeble have gone home early on the pretext that there may possibly be more snow (I believe it has been forecast for some areas south of the M25). The main reason it is chilly in the office is because Office Services forgot to turn the heating on after the weekend…

I think the idea is that it is cheaper to have the staff die from hypothermia than it is to make them redundant…

The snow, of course, came on Saturday and it was quite impressive for our local geography and climate for about four hours. We got a whole (gasp) two or three inches of the stuff. Then it froze hard.

We didn’t venture out yesterday, but the trip in to the office was fun. As with my attempts to get to Norfolk at the beginning of the month, we were hampered by the lack of trains. In the end I only got in a few minutes late, but we had to catch the Central Line from Gants Hill. It really is to weep, what cold/wet/warm/dry weather does to this third-world city of ours.

I have photos of the snow in our back garden, taken at roughly half hour intervals on Saturday. If I can remember where I put the leads, I shall drop them on to my PC and post them up later.

Today is Furtle’s last day in the office until New Year. I have another two days to go. I am indescribably jealous and will be more so when I drag myself out of bed at 7.00 in the morning and she is still all bundled up and cosy…

Oh well.
