Voice posts

A few years ago I managed to make a voice post to LJ. Every now and again I try it again, but it never works.

The only time I am ever really tempted to use voice post is when I am out and about, so I would use my iPhone, which is the registered number. That's the number that worked many years ago, but no longer. The LJ voice contact number is one of the 0800 prefixes; dial it from a mobile and a recorded voice tells you that calls to that number are not free (they are not even possible, in fact) on a mobile and please redial dropping the initial 0.

So you redial and nothing happens. It connects to the aether and if I wait long enough, I may get a recorded message from Alpha Centauri, I expect.

I tried connecting via Skype. Nothing happens on the UK number at all and trying the US number (which is the same cost from Skype), connects, but doesn't recognise my log in.

So you will not have the dubious pleasure of hearing my dulcet tones through this medium at least. Probably just as well.
