The IT in this place is abysmal, it really is. Yesterday afternoon it was like watching lights go out on a board as one shared drive after another disconnected. Happily, the email and web access was unaffected, but any attempts to do or save work just dried up. What is the point of emphasising the paperless office if the computers are useless?
Ironically as I type, there is an IT and Knowledge Management webchat going on right this minute with the head of IT on our intraweb. Given that they have no resources or intention of spending a shiny shilling on the equipment, I have declined to take part lest I say something embarrassing and unfortunate. Assuming, of course, that IE6 can cope with the traffic.
I am feeling a bit peaky today. Don’t know quite why. My ears are a little stuffy again, like they were a month or so ago. I am combating this by listening to music from my iPhone. Originally I was streaming the Test commentary, but the wifi, while not exactly dying, became uncooperatively slow, meaning that even a relatively low bit rate for speech kept buffering.
I have developed hi tech tastes; I much dislike this lo tech environment (by which I mean it was up to date about 10 years ago, which is like ancient, man).
