Wash that Fuehrer right out of your hair
Friday, August 12th, 2011 10:49 amIt’s always good to find something in the news that is both funny and clever.
In Germany, a group called “Exit Deutschland” targets extreme right wing groups and attempts to extract people from neo-Nazi political groups. To this end, they came up with the concept of the “Trojan tee shirt”. They accept that in itself it won’t convert anybody, but they are reportedly pleased by the discussion that it has sparked and it has given them a rather higher profile amongst extremist groups.
The story is covered in Spiegel Online
The plan was simple: a batch of tee shirts were sent to an NPD (National Democratic Party of Germany) organised rock festival purportedly by an anonymous supporter, to be given away free. They carried a nationalistic logo, "Hardcore Rebels - National and Free," and a generic skull and crossbones design. Unsurprisingly they were snapped up with enthusiasm.

Of course, after they were washed for the first time, things changed somewhat. The design washed off to reveal the phrase, "If your T-shirt can do it, so can you. We'll help to free you from right-wing extremism." The offer came with contact information.
The report goes on to say that the right wing forums have people asking themselves why they never thought of it.
